According to the latest data released by China's National Forestry and Grassland Administration on November 12, the number of captive pandas had reached 600 globally.

A total of 60 pandas were born and 57 survived this year in China. In 2019, the number of captive pandas increased by 52, compared to the 548 registered in 2018.

With the number of captive pandas hitting a new record this year, a healthy, dynamic and sustainable giant panda population has been basically formed.

In the mean time, to help increase the vitality of the wild giant panda population, releasing captive pandas to the wild is also an ongoing task.
