The Chinese mainland on Sunday registered 161 new asymptomatic COVID-19 cases, 137 of them were identified in northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and 24 others were from overseas, the National Health Commission announced on Monday.
Twenty new COVID-19 cases were also registered on Sunday, all from overseas, said the health authority.
No deaths related to the disease were reported on Sunday, and 20 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals, the commission said. A total of 539 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.
The total confirmed infections in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region are as follows:
Hong Kong: 5,295 (5,047 recoveries, 105 deaths)
Macao: 46 (46 recoveries)
Taiwan: 550 (502 recoveries, 7 deaths)
