The Russian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday summoned the EU ambassador Markus Edererver over Lithuania's decision to ban the transit of goods to the Kaliningrad region, RIA reported.

Russia demanded that Kaliningrad transit be immediately resumed, otherwise retaliatory measures will follow, according to a statement on the ministry's website.

Meanwhile, Edererver said he asked Moscow to resolve the issue of transit to Kaliningrad diplomatically, adding that there was no blockade as Lithuania was implementing EU sanctions.
