An 18-year-old Chinese tourist has drowned off Phuket's Kamala beach in Thailand after his peer was rescued, local rescue workers said on Wednesday.
The victim's body was found by local police on Wednesday morning 50 meters from the shore. He was later identified as coming from central China’s Henan Province.
According to local rescue workers, four Chinese tourists went swimming at around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Two of them returned to a safe zone after being warned by lifeguards, but the other two ignored the warnings and continued swimming.
On Monday, four female Chinese tourists were saved from drowning by lifeguards at Patong Beach on Phuket's west coast, after they too ignored warnings and swam out to sea. One was seriously injured as a result.
