We are CGTN
From December 31, we will be operating under CGTN, China Global Television Network.
President Xi Jinping's message
Chinese President Xi Jinping sent his congratulations during the opening ceremony held at the CGTN headquarters in Beijing on Saturday.
Xi said that the relationship between China and the world is changing, adding that China needs to better understand the world, and the world needs to better understand China.
He also said CGTN must make use of abundant information, with a distinct Chinese perspective and a global vision, to tell the stories of China.
He said the network should let the world meet a China that is multi-dimensional and colorful, as well as showcase the country as a constructor of world peace, a contributor to global development, a vindicator of international order, and a promoter of a common destiny for all humans.
Media Convergence
Under the new title, television is our main force, but all shows are broadcast simultaneously online and on mobile. And most importantly, we live by our new motto –“Mobile First”, which means providing a mobile experience will be our top priority at CGTN.
Our media convergence center combines multi-format news gathering and multi-platform resource sharing, as well as multiple channels and distribution outlets.
With official motto “See the difference,” CGTN is committed to reporting global news from different perspectives, giving viewers an alternative take on issues affecting the world of today.
The launch of CGTN is much more than rebranding. It aims to provide news consumers with a fresh alternative.
CGTN is a multi-language and multi-platform media grouping, with five principal TV channels –namely CGTN English, Spanish, French, Arabic and Russian.
It also includes CGTN Documentary, China’s first state-level English documentary channel, CGTN Digital, and CCTV Plus, which delivers visual news footage to other media organizations worldwide.
CGTN is also making great strides and broadening its reach through advancements in social media, video streaming, live programming and mobile access.
CGTN boasts an extensive global reporting team with correspondents throughout China and around the world.
