"(Oscar's joining) will definitely (help) enhance the team's capabilities...Our team surely will improve a lot this year, thanks to no big changes (in the team) and the addition of foreign players. Our goal is to strive for the championship, nothing else,” China Radio International(CRI) quoted an anonymous source as saying.
Along with compatriots Hulk and Elkeson, Oscar has become the latest Brazilian to join SIPG. The trio have cost the club more than 140 million US dollars in transfer fees, while Hulk and Oscar are on contracts worth a reported 490,000 US dollars each per week, making them among the highest paid footballers in the world.
Shanghai SIPG finished third in this year's Chinese Super League campaign. SIPG are due to head to Qatar in the coming days to begin its winter training sessions.
