After defeating the Philippines 2-0 on June 7, China beat Tajikistan 1-0 in another friendly match in Guangzhou as Marcello Lippi made it two wins from two matches since returning.

Following Wang Gang's cross from the right side, forward Yang Xu scored the only goal in the 10th minute. However, Yang got injured and was substituted by Chinese Super League (CSL) leader Beijing Guoan's Zhang Yuning 20 minutes later.

The 71-year-old made some changes to the starting lineup, fielding an experimental side full of newcomers.

Former England youth international Nico Yennaris, named Li Ke in China, won his second cap after debuting in a home win over the Philippines on Friday.

China, 74th in the FIFA rankings, defeated lower-ranked Philippines 2-0 last Friday and secured a seed spot in the 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifier.

Lippi, who guided Italy to World Cup glory in 2006, is now attempting to lead China to the World Cup for the second time since 2002.

While Chinese media have focused on naturalized players ahead of September's World Cup qualifiers, Lippi, who could have move naturalized players added to the talent pool, remained mum on the topic, but mentioned the desire for new players to his World Cup qualifying squad.

"We have Gao Lin and Wu Lei, both of them are good strikers. I will be very happy if more quality players, especially good strikers could join the team."
