Ultra-marathon runner Dion Leonard said running through the Gobi Desert with the stray dog Gobi was the hardest thing he has ever done, but also the best. Now the story of the Australian runner's miraculous friendship with Gobi has been published in Mandarin Chinese.

In 2016, Leonard unexpectedly crossed paths with a stray dog while competing in a 155-mile (about 250-kilometer) race through the Gobi Desert in China. Gobi ran with Leonard for several days, crossing the Tianshan Mountains and the sands of the Gobi desert. During the process, Leonard fell in love with Gobi and promised to bring her home to the UK.

However, before Leonard could take her home, Gobi went missing in China. With the help of many strangers that saw his viral request to find her on the internet, Gobi was eventually found and reunited with Leonard.
