Meet all eight venues for 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup

The 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup is taking place in eight Chinese cities – Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Wuhan, Shenzhen, Foshan and Dongguan – from August 31 to September 15. Here are the eight venues where the tournament will play out:

The four teams in Group A, namely China, Cote d'Ivoire, Poland and Venezuela, will be playing at the Cadillac Arena. Covering an area of some 63,000 square meters, the arena can seat over 18,000 spectators and has hosted many major sports events including the CBA Finals, NBA China Game and NHL China game. Sixteen games, including the final and the opener, will be played here.

Oriental Sports Center, Shanghai

The Shanghai Oriental Sports Center, also known as the "Crown on ocean" because of its beautiful design, will be hosting the games of Group E between the U.S., Turkey, the Czech Republic and Japan. Though the venue is more well-known for hosting water sports, it is also a qualified choice for basketball events. Thirteen games, including the quarterfinals, will happen here.

Guangzhou Gymnasium, Guangzhou

The Guangzhou Gymnasium was built in 1999, covering a total area of 240,000 square meters, including an indoor part of 5,000 square meters. The arena features 11,000 seats and 24 boxes, and will host 10 games including the competitions in Group C between Spain, Iran, Puerto Rico and Tunisia.

Nanjing Youth Olympic Sports Games Park, Nanjing

As a sports complex, the Nanjing Youth Olympic Sports Games Park covers some 1,000,000 square meters and has 24,000 seats, making it the biggest indoor stadium in China and the largest gymnasium in Asia. The four teams of Group F, Greece, Brazil, New Zealand and Montenegro, will compete here.

Wuhan Sports Center, Wuhan

The Wuhan Sports Center is a five-storey gymnasium that occupies an area of more than 53,000 square meters and features 13,000 seats. Argentina, Russia, South Korea and Nigeria of Group B will be playing in this venue.

Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre, Shenzhen

The arena of the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre will be hosting 10 games, including the competitions of Group G between France, Brazil, Jordan and the Dominican Republic. On September 15, 2018, it held the NHL pre-season game between the Calgary Flames and Boston Bruins.

Foshan International Sports and Cultural Center, Foshan

The Foshan International Sports and Cultural Center was designed to match NBA-level arenas. Covering some 389,00 square meters of land, it can offer 15,000 seats, 56 VIP boxes and over 2,300 parking spots. Ten games including those of Group D, Italy, Serbia, Angola and the Philippines, will take place here.

Dongfeng Nissan Cultural and Sports Centre, Dongguan

The Dongfeng Nissan Cultural and Sports Centre is one of the rare basketball arenas in China that match NBA standards. It has a capacity of 16,000 seats and used to be known as the No.1 arena of the CBA. The home court of nine-time CBA champions, the Guangdong Southern Tigers, will be hosting 11 games including those between Australia, Canada, Lithuania and Senegal.
