Xi: China-Kazakhstan ties have progressed by leaps and bounds

Chinese President Xi Jinping met with his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Bishkek, Kazakhstan on Thursday.

Xi noted both sides made efforts to lay a solid foundation for the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) cooperation. China is willing to work with Kazakhstan under the frameworks of both the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Xi added.

Tokayev said developing a sound relationship with China has long been a foreign policy priority for his country. He also stressed that Kazakhstan is willing to set up cooperation on trade, transportation and the digital economy with China.
