China's Xu Xin and Zhu Yuling paired to win the mixed doubles title after defeating Japanese duo Tomokazu Harimoto and Hina Hayata 3-0 at the ITTF World Tour Platinum Japan Open in Sapporo on Saturday.

Xu and Zhu, who teamed up for the first time, started their journey in Sapporo with a dominant 3-0 win over Indian duo Sharath Kamal Achanta and Manika Batra during the round of 16 on Friday.

Then, they continued their victorious advance by beating Wong Chun Ting and Doo Hoi Kem of Hong Kong, China in the quarterfinals and Chinese Taipei's Lin Yun-ju and Cheng I-ching in the semifinals.

Earlier on Saturday, the Japanese duo defeated Chinese Fan Zhendong and Ding Ning 3-1 in the semifinals to book a final spot, against Xu and Zhu.

The host nation's favorite duo hardly prevented their Chinese opponents as they lost 10-12, 11-6, 11-5.
