Exhibitors express hope for attracting more visitors from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Thursday at the Hong Kong International Tourism Expo.

The 33rd Hong Kong International Tourism Expo (ITE) brought together some 680 exhibitors from 56 counties and regions.

“Together with the launch of Hong Kong section of Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link and Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, and the strengthening connectivity among the Greater Bay Area, it’s more convenient for tourists outside the region to visit the Greater Bay Area and vice versa,” Joe Wong, the commissioner for tourism of the China’s Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, said while addressing the opening ceremony.

As the platform for promotion and exchanges, the ITE invites exhibitors from different destinations. The largest pavilion is from the Chinese mainland with over 120 booths featuring highlights of mainland cities.

“Hong Kong is a major market for the mainland tourism. We hope to introduce special tourism products of Ordos on the expo to attract visitors from the Greater Bay Area,” said Xie Yongfeng, an official from Ordos, Inner Mongolia.
