"While Huawei happens to be leading in 5G and will not be complacent, we will still collaborate with the world," Huawei founder and CEO Ren Zhengfei said during a discussion with two American technology gurus, George Gilder and Nicholas Negroponte, at the company's Shenzhen headquarters. CGTN's Tian Wei hosted the dialogue.
Talking about future trends, Ren said artificial intelligence (AI) will be the biggest driving force for human society in the next 20 to 30 years. He continued that we need to be inclusive and not regard AI as "negative" future technology. Ren said AI is going to create opportunities and it deserves a certain level of tolerance.
He said Huawei has been committed to business ethics and compliance with laws and regulations since the company started. Huawei didn't, and will never steal, intellectual property. He continued that many companies pay IPR royalties to Huawei and pledged that the firm will not use IPR as a weapon as that will hinder the development of human society. The tech giant has been busy pursuing its own growth over the past few years.
Nicholas Negroponte said that Huawei should make itself known for its published research. "The world has to know how much Huawei has done," he added.
