Thousands of rare egrets were spotted flying in a wetland in east China's Jiangxi Province recently.

The large number of the endangered birds are feeding and breeding in the wetland in Le'an County of Fuzhou City and the development is attributed to improved environment for wildlife in the region in the past years.

Egrets enjoy the second-highest level of national animal protection in China, and are also protected by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.
