The connection between Israel and the city of Shanghai dates back to World War II when the latter offered shelter for more than 20,000 Jews fleeing Nazi persecution. To celebrate the friendship, the Israeli consulate in Shanghai held a cultural event on Monday, which also marked the 25th anniversary of its establishment.
