A spokesperson of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Lu Kang, stressed U.S. domestic opposition to the country's tariffs strategy, on Tuesday at a regular MOFA press conference.

"I noticed, at the same time when the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) is holding public hearings on the tariffs imposed on Chinese products, the wave of the opposition is getting higher and higher inside the U.S.," said Lu.

Lu also mentioned, even Larry Kudlow, Director of the U.S. National Economic Council, had publicly admitted that U.S. companies and consumers would finally buy the tariffs.

According to a recent report by Goldman Sachs, the cost of the tariffs that the U.S. put on Chinese goods last year has been completely transferred to U.S. enterprises and households, Lu said.

He added that the trade conflicts between the U.S. and China can be solved properly only if the talk is based on mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit.

"There is no way out of any deviation from this principle."
