China expresses condolences once again to the Filipino fishermen who were in distress after an accidental collision between Chinese and Filipino fishing vessels on the early morning of June 10, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang said at a regular press conference on Thursday.

China attaches great importance to Sino-Philippine relations and to maritime safety, Lu emphasized.

It will continue to investigate the incident in a serious and responsible manner, and the Chinese side will also maintain communication with the Philippines, Lu said.

In order to find a proper solution, the Chinese side suggested that the two sides launch a joint investigation as soon as possible, exchange views on the preliminary investigations, and properly handle the incident through friendly consultations based on the findings of the investigations approved by both sides, Lu added.
