Firefighters on Thursday battled the last hot spot of forest fires that broke out a day earlier in two areas in the Greater Hinggan Mountain in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The almost inaccessible primitive forests are populated by trees with high resin content, making them inflammable and posing great challenges to the firefighting operation. As of Thursday noon, 17 out of 18 burning spots were extinguished. No casualties were reported.
