Anthony Browne is an award-wining writer and illustrator. He is the winner of Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2000, the highest recognition available to creators of children's books. His books have been translated into 26 languages and his illustration work went on exhibitions in a dozen countries. Born in Sheffield in the UK, his upbringing in suburban England largely influenced his artistic view; his early life there contributed to his ideas of drawing with pervasiveness and severity.

The painter is able to elicit comprehensive inner feelings on paper. No matter the feeling, all with warmth and love. That is maybe why his works are particularly adored by children.
