Five people were killed and six suffered severe injuries after a tour bus crashed into an expressway guardrail in east China's Jiangxi Province at 7:58 p.m. local time on Saturday.

The bus was carrying 53 people, 42 of whom sustained minor injuries, local authorities report.

The incident happened on a section of the Shanghai-Kunming Expressway in Shangrao City, Jiangxi.

Investigations are underway.
