An exhibition featuring more than 130 pieces of Chinese cartoon and comic art kicked off in Osaka, Japan on Saturday.
This exhibition, which aims to enhance cultural exchange between China and Japan, is the largest scale exhibition of Chinese animation and comics so far in Japan.
These 130 works comprehensively display the achievements of Chinese animation creation since the founding of the People’s Republic of China 70 years ago.
Guo Weimin, vice minister of the State Council Information Office, and about 200 insiders of the animation industry from China and Japan were present at the launching ceremony of the exhibition on Saturday, which is also expected to play a role in marking the upcoming G20 summit in the Japanese city in a week from now.
There will be a series of forums, seminars, and signing ceremonies and Chinese animation screenings scheduled for the exhibition.
Some outstanding Chinese cartoon works, like the “Monkey King Creating A Tremendous Uproar in the Heavenly Palace,” “Beijing Opera Cats,” will be shown through the online platform of TV Tokyo.
"Such an opportunity for exchange is great. It is my first time to hear such comprehensive and profound statement on China-Japan animation cooperation from Chinese government officials, which is very impressive and moving," Noriko Mochinaga, a renowned Japanese scholar on animation, told China Central Television.
The exhibition will take its tour to Japanese city Nara later in July.
