Kim Jong Un, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), received a personal letter from U.S. President Donald Trump, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported early on Sunday.

"After reading the letter, the Supreme Leader of the Party, the state and the armed forces said with satisfaction that the letter is of excellent content," the media said.

In a report published early on Sunday in Asia, KCNA did not give details on the letter, such as when and how the letter was delivered to Kim.

"Kim Jong Un said that he would seriously contemplate the interesting content," according to the report.

Over the past few months, the positive momentum in solving the nuclear issue on the peninsula has lost some steam following the February Trump-Kim meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam, which ended with no agreement.

The letter appears to be in answer to a letter Kim sent to Trump recently in time for the anniversary of their first-ever summit in Singapore last June, said Yonhap.

Trump described Kim's letter as "beautiful" and "very warm," emphasizing that the relationship between them remains strong and that "something will happen that's going to be very positive."

Kim had a meeting with the visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping last week and the two leaders both expressed positive attitude towards the peace on Korean Peninsula.
