More than 5,600 villagers in one of China's least developed counties, Yecheng County, have begun to move from the deep mountains to new homes with the help of the government. Yecheng County abuts Kunlun Mountains on one side and the Taklimakan Desert on the other side. Villagers living there struggle against harsh environments and suffer frequent natural disasters. Earlier this year, villagers were invited to visit newly-built houses and encouraged to move in.
