An international forum on performing arts wrapped up on Sunday at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing. Themed at "Exchange and Cooperation for Experience Sharing and Win-Win Outcomes," the forum was designed to promote discussion on development of theater and the performing arts.

Over 200 executives and artists from more than 90 art institutes gathered at China's leading opera house and shared their thoughts on opportunities and challenges facing the theater industry.

At the opening ceremony, Wang Ning, president of the National Center for the Performing Arts, said, "Theaters constitute an important platform for sharing the fruits of civilizations and an important belt connecting different countries, nationalities and cultures. We call for theater professionals around the world to work together and build a community of shared destiny for the sustainable development of theaters."

During the three-day event, participants had in-depth discussions over three practical issues of theater development, including the so-called "new concept" of theater operation and management, art education and audience cultivation, and the future road of art creation and production.

Art executives from around the world also shared their thoughts on the importance of cultural exchange and the shared destiny for theaters.

Cormac Simms, administrative director of the Royal Opera House in Britain, said, "I think culture is a great connection in transcending national barriers, politics and in many other things. I think it is something we should be working on together and we are very excited about its development all over the world."

Christopher Deacon, president of the National Arts Center of Canada, said: "I think theaters around the globe share the same goals of engaging their audience with powerful stories from their all cultures. And I think it is very important that these theaters continue to enrich their communities and express their aspirations of their people."

During the forum, several strategic partnership agreements were signed between the NCPA and visiting theaters.

Industry representatives also adopted the "Beijing Declaration," which aims to carry out further cooperation in the fields of art creation, talent cultivation, universal education and information sharing.
