The Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) is conducting tourism road shows in four Chinese cities – Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, and Changsha.

Tourism is one of the largest foreign exchange earners of Tanzania, contributing an average of 2 billion U.S. dollars to the country annually, which is equivalent to 25 percent of all foreign exchange earnings, according to government data.

A report released in June 2017 rated Tanzania's tourism industry as one of the fastest growing sectors in the country with figures showing a surge in tourist arrivals.

Tanzania has abundant tourism resources, including Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa, and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a World Heritage Site.

The Belt and Road Initiative(BRI) promotes and strengthens trade, investment, cultural exchanges, and tourism between Tanzania and China.

In 2018, the number of Chinese tourists to Tanzania grew 13.8 percent year on year. Later this year, Air Tanzania will open a flight route connecting Dar es Salaam and China's Guangzhou.
