Xi sends congratulatory letter to follow-up meeting on FOCAC summit

Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the Coordinators' Meeting on the Implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on the China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), which opened in Beijing on Tuesday.

The FOCAC summit was held in the Chinese capital last September, bringing China-Africa ties closer and opening a new chapter in cooperation between both sides.

Leaders from China and African countries agreed to push forward the alignment of China's Belt and Road Initiative and the African Union's Agenda 2063, and jointly build a China-Africa community with a shared future, said President Xi in the letter.

The Chinese president said he is glad to see the two sides work together to push forward the implementation of the follow-up actions of the FOCAC summit and people have benefited from the early harvest.

He said the world is currently undergoing a major change and the momentum of the rapid rise of developing countries is strong.

The cooperation and common development between China and Africa will make an important contribution to enhancing the strength of developing countries, building a new type of international relationship and a community with a shared future for mankind, Xi said.

The president expressed hope that China and Africa will take this meeting as a new opportunity, strengthen communication, deepen cooperation, promote the implementation of the summit's results, improve the welfare of the Chinese and African people, and make more efforts to build a China-Africa community with a shared future.
