A total of 3.46 tons of drugs, 6.57 tons of semi-finished drugs and 34.5 tons of precursor chemicals and manufactured goods were publicly destroyed in Quanzhou City, southeast China’s Fujian Province. June 26 marks the 32nd "International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” and 2019 is also the 180th anniversary of the famous Humen Opium Destruction. Lin Zexu, a senior official of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), ordered that 1,000 tons of smuggled opium, confiscated from foreign dealers in China, be set on fire in Humen, Guangdong Province in 1839. The mass opium destruction is known as China's first battle against drugs.
