An exhibition titled "Van Gogh Immersive Experience: Fantasy of the Inner World" opened at the National Museum of China on June 22.

There are nine sections in total, covering topics ranging from Van Gogh's life experiences to his famous paintings.

Through 360-degree holographic imaging technology, the exhibition perfectly restores more than 200 original works of Van Gogh and invites the audience to experience a multi-sensory art feast.

"I hope by this immersive exhibition, visitors can feel the painter. This is neither a documentary nor a painting study. To me, it's an artistic adventure and allows people to feel closer to the artist through different artistic experiences," said Orphee Cataldo, CEO of Dirty Monitor.

With "stars" in the sky, visitors find themselves surrounded by artworks from different periods of Van Gogh's life. From time to time, they can step on a blooming sunflower. Just like magic, the post-impressionist painter's process of creation is presented like a 3D movie in front of the audience.

The exhibition also provides a replica of Van Gogh's room in Arles in 1888. Those familiar with "Bedroom in Arles" will experience a special feeling as they get transported to the room.

Van Gogh was most prolific when he spent time in this town in southern France. The seemingly bland scenery of Arles became the theme of his creation, and it was there that he created many of his famous works like the irises, sunflowers and starry sky.

Another highlight of the exhibition is the VR segment, which gives audiences a chance to step into the location where Van Gogh created his works.

Audiences can interact with the content of the scene in real time, sitting in front of "his window" to see how the scenery that fascinated the artist became a masterpiece.

In the interactive painting experience section, visitors can use their imagination and art expressions to create their own works.

"This is the first time for me to be in an immersive exhibition. It's very different from the exhibitions I've been to before, and I really enjoyed it. I don't know how to paint, but being in this atmosphere, I just feel like sitting here and painting," a visitor told CGTN.
