The two-day Coordinators' Meeting on the Implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on the China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) has concluded in Beijing after high-level delegations from 53 FOCAC members discussed tangible collaboration plans.

Zambia's Foreign Minister Joseph Malanji was one of 25 African foreign ministers attending the meeting. He sat down with CGTN to discuss cooperation between China and his country.

Malanji first spoke highly of the FOCAC mechanism which allows each member to make full use of the framework and achieve win-win outcome. And the coordinators' meeting could act as a key follow-up action to carry out these plans made in FOCAC summit.

Talking about fresh joint projects with China under FOCAC, Malanji said there are multiple projects especially in the health sector, including adding new health facilities.

Malanji also refuted claims of Chinese "debt traps," saying that infrastructure building takes time and the benefit will be ultimately recognized by the generations to come.

Zambia was one of the first countries in southern Africa to establish diplomatic relations with China 55 years ago.
