On Tuesday, the opening day, the Chinese exhibitors attracted representatives from over 50 leading media companies in the region. Many of them have forged partnerships with their Chinese counterparts.
J.P. Bommel, chairman of the festival organizing committee, said: "We've been working with CCTV for a couple of years now, in developing international co-productions... I'm having a great time watching these Chinese programs."
Since the early 2000s, China has stepped up efforts to sell its film and TV productions in the overseas market. The National Radio and Television Administration is encouraging domestic production companies to participate in 16 major TV festivals across Asia, Europe, and North America.
