Countries pledge $110 million for UN Palestinian agency

Over 100 million U.S. dollars have been raised to support the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, which has been struggling since Washington ended its funding last year. The U.S. has offered an economic plan of its own, presenting it at a workshop in Bahrain on Tuesday. Around 35 countries took part in the conference, mostly European and Arab nations, with the biggest contributions coming from the EU, Germany, and Britain. There were no announcements of new contributions from Gulf countries. Neither the Israeli nor Palestinian governments attended the event.
