Ginseng and chicken soup is a signature dish in northeast China's Jilin Province.
Mt. Changbai, located in Jilin Province, is home to ginseng in China. The root is considered beneficial to one's health, thus it is used in soup along with dates and other seasonings.
Jilin cuisine is very similar to those of the other two provinces in northeast China – Liaoning and Heilongjiang.
