China has stepped up its cultural and educational partnerships with European countries, agreeing to cooperate more in education-related areas on Thursday. The China-Europe Education Alliance for Humanities and Arts was newly established as part of this.

The founding ceremony for the China-Europe Education Alliance for Humanities and Arts was held in Beijing on Thursday. The endeavor forms part of the high-level people-to-people exchanges program between China and European countries. Its goal is to expand the mutual visits between the regions, as well as the organization of forums, art festivals and exhibitions.

“Today we joined hands in setting up this alliance in humanities and arts. It will serve as a high-profile platform and enrich the exchanges between China and European countries. It will deepen our understanding of each other. Young people will be the future of Chinese-European cultural exchanges,” said Du Kewei, Director of Cultural Exchanges of Chinese Ministry of Education.

The alliance was initiated by the Education Ministry of China. It involves a number of leading universities and cultural institutions from across Europe. Since 2012, the high-level cultural exchanges program between China and Europe has been effective in promoting dialogue between the two sides.
