Located in the hinterland of Qaidam Basin of China's Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the unique water Yardang landform attracts hundreds of tourists and researchers every year with it's spectacular view and topography.

The formation is the result of rising water levels in nearby lakes, which gradually submerge the Yardang group on the northern edge, creating a distinct water Yardang landform.

Different shapes of wind-eroded sandstone contrast with the sky-blue water to design a picturesque atmosphere. Another magical sight is created when the bright sunshine glitters on stone pillars and its sparkling reflections capture the moment.

China has a large area of concentrated Yardangs, a weathering landform, mainly ridge-like or hill-like in extremely arid region with a considerable scale. The most typical Yardangs are found in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Qinghai Province.

Here is a collection of photographs of China's most spectacular water Yardang landform.
