Yuan Renguo, former chairman of Chinese liquor producer Kweichow Moutai Group, was indicted for taking bribes, according to China's Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) on Friday.

The Guiyang Municipal People's Procuratorate filed the case in the Guiyang Municipal Intermediate People's Court, said SPP on its website.

Guiyang is the capital city of southwestern Guizhou Province.

Prosecutors accused Yuan of taking advantage of his posts to seek benefits for others and accepting vast amounts of money and gifts.

The prosecutors had informed Yuan of his litigation rights, interrogated the defendant and listened to the defence attorney's opinions, the SPP said.
