July 1 marks the 22nd anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China. Top SAR government officials and representatives from different sectors attended a flag-raising ceremony at Golden Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai. On July 1, 1997, China resumed sovereignty over Hong Kong, after 156 years of British colonial rule. Sunday saw activities to celebrate Hong Kong's return to China in Victoria Park. People from all walks of life joined in.
