China has announced the members of its diving team for July's FINA World Championships, which to be held in Gwangju in the Republic of Korea. The squad will consist of nine men and nine women, who will take part in 13 events.

After undergoing five weeks of intense training in Shandong Province, the Chinese diving team is now in the final stage of preparations for the event.

The 18-member line-up includes three Olympic champions and 13 world title winners.

The squad will be led by Rio Olympic gold medalist Shi Tingmao in the women's three-meter individual and synchronized springboard, while fellow Rio 2016 winners Chen Aisen and Cao Yuan will try to claim their first world title together in the men's 10-meter synchronized platform.

China will mostly enter younger athletes in the non-Olympic events in South Korea to help them gain experience after the delegation heads to Gwangju next Sunday.

"I hope we can have a good experience at the World Championships and compete just as if we are participating in the Olympics," Zhou Jihong, the leader of the Chinese diving team told the media. "I hope the athletes can perform their best and achieve their best results."
