"It has enriched my life, and I can also earn some extra money." Tan Yan, a worker at a community factory in Jieguanting Town, Lueyang County, Shannxi Province, told CGTN.

As part of the Relocation for Poverty Alleviation Project, Lueyang County Government has worked with local enterprises in setting up a community factory to help left-behind women and children.

Jieguanting Town Community Factory was launched in 2018 and formally operated on March 8, 2019. The factory is a labor-intensive enterprise, specialized in producing toys and shoes.

In June 2018, the Women Federation of Lueyang County established the Home for Women and Children near the workshop so that female workers can keep their children there while they are on shift. It is a good place for children to spend time after school as it has books and facilities for various activities.

With these worker-friendly facilities, the factory is not only part of the poverty alleviation plan, but also a humanitarian act for the villagers.

Yang Lina, an officer of the Lueyang County Government, said many local residents were relocated from the mountainous area and the factory has helped them find their place in the new homeland. The factory also provides a better solutions for left-behind children by creating jobs that help women balance their family and work.
