Blooming lotus flowers are attracting many tourists to east China's Jiangxi Province, boosting local tourism.

Lotus flowers are blooming in red and white in many cities of Jiangxi, including Nanchang, Zhangshu, Gao'an and Shanggao, giving off a pleasant fragrance while swaying in gentle winds.

"I came from Fujian Province and was impressed by the vast beautiful flower sea. The air is fresh too. I spent a night here yesterday, enjoying the tranquility absent in cities," said Lin, a tourist.

In Shangrao City, lotus flowers have become an engine of economic growth and largely increased villagers' income.

"Shrimps and fish bred in the 6,500-mu (433.3 hectares) lotus pond can bring us some primary economic advantages. In addition, we have a processing industry to produce white and red lotus seeds as well as lotus leaves tea," said Cai Mengke, manager of a local tourist attraction.
