Cultural activities with the theme of "Glamour of Silk Road" were held in Tel Aviv on Tuesday.

A series of events, including a photo exhibition, film screenings and cultural performances, reviewed over 1,000 years of history between Chinese and Jewish people enabled by the Silk Road and dating back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907).

The artistic performance presented by the Gansu Provincial Song and Dance Theatre was the highlight of the event. It demonstrated the charm of Chinese culture through songs, dances, and music.

Dances and short plays that reflect the ethnic characteristics of Xinjiang, Tibet and other Chinese regions received warm response.

The friendly exchanges between China and Israel go way back in time.

"Since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1992, friendship between China and Israel has made a historic leap. Cooperation in science, education, culture, biotechnology, modern agriculture and environmental protection has been expanding and deepening," said Sun Zhijun, deputy director of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

"This event is a strong testimony to the continuous and deepening cultural exchanges between the two countries," Sun added.
