The drama "Ordinary World" has been staged in Xi'an in northwest China's Shaanxi Province to mark the 98th anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC), which fell on Monday, and the upcoming 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, which falls on October 1.

"Ordinary World" was created by the Shaanxi People's Art Theater and premiered in Xi'an in 2017. Since then, the show has been put on stage in the city many times including this week's performance, which featured three generations of artists from the art troupe.

The piece is based on an eponymous novel written by Chinese author Lu Yao. The destiny of three families in a village in Shaanxi unfolds, creating a picture of how people strove to change their lives in the 1970s and 1980s under the CPC leadership.

The drama is now part of the repertoire of the Shaanxi People's Art Theater. Over the past two years, it was played in 29 cities across China, reaching over 130,000 spectators.

According to the troupe, "Ordinary World" will continue touring the country this year, as the People's Republic of China celebrates its 70th anniversary.
