A 5.4-magnitude earthquake struck 16 km west of Searles Valley in California, the United States Geological Survey reported on Friday.
On Thursday, a 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit the same area, the strongest to rock the region since 1999. The latest tremor is believed to be one of the strongest aftershocks.
