The Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing is holding a summer art festival, running from Friday to 31 August.

At the festival, famous artists are invited to give over 70 performances featuring symphony, folk music, Peking Opera, dance and other categories of arts.

At the opening ceremony, the Beijing Symphony Orchestra performed the "Blue Danube," the "Red Detachment of Women" and other Chinese and foreign classics under the baton of renowned conductor Tan Lihua.

Besides, intangible cultural heritage inheritors from Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province produced and displayed their works.

The exhibition of intangible cultural heritage will last two days and is free to the public.
