E China's Liangzhu Archaeological Site opens online bookings

China's Liangzhu Archaeological Site, a UNESCO World Heritage site, launched an online booking system on its official website on Sunday that allowed visitors to register and book tours for free.

Located in Yuhang District of Hangzhou City in the eastern province of Zhejiang, the site welcomes visitors every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The site has adopted a daily visitor quota of 3,000 with six time slots. And, valid identification (ID card or passport) is needed for admission.

So far, the tickets for the week (July 8-14) have been sold out.

Covering an area of 14.34 square kilometers, the Liangzhu Archaeological Site houses numerous archaeological remains and cultural relics that date back to 5,000 years ago.

The site consists of four main areas, namely the Area of Yaoshan Site, the Area of High-dam at the Mouth of the Valley, the Area of Low-dam on the Plain and the Area of City Site.

For now, visitors could only access the core zone of the Area of City Site covering an area of 3.6 square kilometers that features such ancient remains of city walls, altars, residences and various workshops.

The Liangzhu Archaeological Site was inscribed on the UNESCO's World Heritage List on Saturday during the 43rd session of the World Heritage Committee in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, becoming the 55th Chinese location on the List.
