The exhibition "D-Gallery of Douyin Art Season" opened on Saturday at the Today Art Museum in Beijing.

The museum selected more than 30 artists who had submitted their artistic works, including paintings, sculptures and installations, under the theme "Douyin Art Season."

Various works on display

One innovative submission, "Van Gogh's Sunflowers under the Stars," was created using 15,280 dice. The image changes as people move closer to it.

Wang Nan, the lead artist with the Peking University art research team, is one of the artists whose work was selected for the exhibition. The piece, titled "eye-catching-in-ten-seconds," took Wang and his team two-and-a-half months from design to completion.

"I think the Internet age is an age of fast-moving consumer goods. In the age of fast-moving consumer goods, your work needs to be very eye-catching. You need to be remembered in 10 seconds," Wang said, referring to the title of his team's submission.

Everyone can be a recorder

Short videos are no longer unfamiliar to people in modern society. Everyone can express themselves and record precious moments in their lives using technology.

Douyin, also known as Tik Tok, is a Chinese app that allows users to create and share their own music videos by editing them with various special effects. It was the world's most downloaded iOS app in the first quarter of 2018 and is still very popular among Chinese netizens.

To present the works of young artists, discover a better life through art and convey the value of art to the public, the exhibition also opened a "Douyin screening hall" to showcase creative short videos that were collected on the platform.

The exhibition was jointly launched by Douyin and more than 20 professional art institutions and art galleries together with 14 fine arts colleges and institutions in China.

Over 20,000 videos of artistic creations have been collected during the 26 days of the campaign, reaching a total of 2.7 billion views, according to statistics collected by Douyin.
