NBA's Mike Conley, who was traded by the Memphis Grizzlies to the Utah Jazz this summer, will have his No. 11 jersey retired by the Grizzlies.

"Mike Conley represented the Grizzlies and the City of Memphis with true heart and class during his 12 seasons," Robert J. Pera, owner of the team, said in a statement. "His talent, determination and resilience elevated our team to a perennial playoff contender, and his altruism and sportsmanship helped shape the community-focused nature of our franchise. For his innumerable contributions on the court and in our community, Mike will always be a beloved Memphian. We are proud that Mike's #11 jersey will one day be raised to the rafters in FedExForum."

The deal between Memphis and Utah over Conley happened before the 2019 NBA Draft. Utah sent Jae Crowder, Kyle Korver, Grayson Allen, 2019 No. 23 draft pick and a 2020 protected first rounder, to Memphis in exchange for Conley.

Since he was selected by the Grizzlies with the No. 4 pick in the 2007 draft, Conley has spent all 12 years of his career with the team. In the 788 regular season games he has played, he recorded an average of 14.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.5 steals. Joined by Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph, Conley helped the Grizzlies stay in the playoffs between 2011 and 2017. He is also the all-time leader in scoring (11,733 points), assists (4,509), 3-pointers made (1,086) and games played (788).

Conley, 31, is going through his best years as a point guard and, compared with other scoring champion guards, he is one of the few classical orchestrators in today's NBA. He's one of the league's top 5 defenders in his position, always willing and able to find teammates with opportunities. Meanwhile, he is an underestimated cunning slasher and a big threat with his floaters and perimeter shots, not to mention his big heart from the 3-point line.

Moreover, Conley is a true gentleman on the court – he's only received one technical foul in his career so far that was later rescinded by the league, and one of the best teammates you can expect. He never stops paying attention to who needs to touch the ball. That's why Conley had three NBA Sportsmanship Awards and was named 2019 NBA Teammate of the Year.
