The much-awaited grudge match between welterweight contenders Jorge Masvidal and Ben Askren witnessed an incredible world record as Masvidal accomplished a knock out of his opponent in just five seconds to create history the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
With his fastest KO ever, the magnificent American mixed martial artists produced one of the most spectacular moments ever seen inside the octagon in UFC history.
Former Bellator and ONE Championship welterweight champion Askren went into the much-publicized bout undefeated and was the hot favorite to position himself for a shot at the UFC welterweight title.
But Masvidal was just too good for his fancied compatriot. Firing on all cylinders, he came flying out of his corner to execute a spectacular flying knee at Askren that resulted in an instant KO of Askren.

The fall of Askren was welcomed with a huge roar as the spectators were cheering for Masvidal for his spectacular KO.
By the time referee Jason Herzog had dived in to stop Masvidal from landing additional shots, the timer showed only five seconds had elapsed since start.
Masvidal was not only declared the winner for his unbelievable KO, but his historic win has also cemented his world title credentials as he clinched the record for the fastest knockout in UFC history.
On the other hand, badly hit by the killer KO kick, a hapless Askren remained unconscious on the floor for several minutes before doctors worked hard to bring back his consciousness and then helped him sit on a stool.
Eventually, Askren wobbled out of the cage on his own feet as the Las Vegas crowd hailed Masvidal's record-shattering mark.
