Fifty-six giant pandas, made of fiberglass, took over the downtown areas of Shanghai. From June 15 to July 15, these pandas will make appearances at the city's landmarks, with the first stop at Xintiandi, then followed by the Lafayette in the Pudong District.

The British artist Hayden Kays, French artist Françoise Lemaître-leroux, Benoit Dutour, Thail designer Meow and artists from other regions participated in the design of the pandas.

This is part of the activities and exhibitions for Fashion Zoo, a large-scale fashion exhibition, featuring designs and innovative art installations to signify "Created in China" with international artists.

The pandas were between one-and-a-half and two-meter tall and designed with three postures, which were inspired by totems and costumes of the 56 Chinese ethnic nationalities, as well as the presentation of the artworks related to Chinese culture with a touch of modernism and urbanism.

The giant panda is of symbolic significance in the Chinese culture. Famous for its distinctive black-and-white fur, it conveys an image of friendliness and good nature to demonstrate the characteristics of the Chinese culture and the Chinese people.
