Visit-worthy spots in China for a sunflower field trip

A sea of blooming sunflowers in a field near Baima Lake of Huaian, east China's Jiangsu Province, has attracted shutterbugs and nature lovers.

Covering an area of over one square kilometer, the field is home to five million sunflowers of some 14 different types.

The best season to admire these flowers is July-August. However, the flowering period differs slightly between south and north China due to their weather conditions.

Here is a list of three instagram-worthy spots in China for your sunflower-themed trip:

Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province

Established in 2002, the Million Sunflower Garden in Xinken Town of Guangzhou's Nansha District houses a large-scale sunflower garden. The sunflowers are famed for their diversity as their seeds are imported from a number of countries across Asia and Europe.

At the garden, sunflowers vie for attention with other species like rose and lavender, making it a visual feast of botanical beauty.

Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province

Hangzhou City is in no short supply of sunflower fields. Bagua Tian, or Eight Diagrams Field, has gained popularity in the past few years. Comprised of eight fields with the center serving as a symbol of Yin and Yang, the scenic area is surrounded by mountains and pools of water. The sunflowers usually bloom from June to mid-July.

Fangshan District, Beijing, north China

The sunflower fields in Changgou Town in the Fangshan District of Beijing are also worth a visit. Stretching over six square kilometers, the sunflower fields there are grown to make edible oil. The best time to visit is September-early October.
