The Suohurima Township is located in Jigzhi County of the Guoluo Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in northwest China’s Qinghai Province.

It sits at an average altitude of over 4,300 meters and is surrounded by the Sanjiangyuan National Nature Reserve.

Because of its geographic location, the development of any industry is limited, and poverty alleviation efforts are particularly difficult there.

Due to long periods of permafrost on the plateau, building houses can only be done during a window of no more than three months every year.

This makes renovating dilapidated buildings an urgent and essential need among the poor people in the town.

During a grassroots report tour in Guoluo, CGTN reported on the process of renovating dilapidated buildings in this remote area.
